This week in class we discussed what the definition of quality is in the healthcare setting. When I am receiving care, I want my healthcare providers to not hurt me, help me feel better, and to be nice to me. As long as those three needs are met I will be pleased with the care I receive. As a professional nurse, I consider quality care as being competent in skills, being a patient advocate, and knowing my duties. Basically, I want to avoid hurting my patients, I want to help them feel better, and I want to treat them in a kind and respectful way. I think that my definitions for the quality of receiving and providing healthcare are very similar.
